Ring; Inktober Series

“Ring one, ring two, on the Hallelujah telephone. He will hear you, and He will answer, on the Hallelujah telephone.”

Mindless; Inktober Series

“But avoid irreverent babble, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness”

-2 Tim 2:16

Bait; Inktober Series

“But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.”

-James 1:14

Freeze; Inktober Series

“By the breath of God ice is given, and the broad waters are frozen fast.

-Job 37:10

Build; Inktober Series

Noah got right to work when God told him to BUILD the ark (Genesis 6:22). Other people must have been warned about the coming disaster (1 Peter 3:20), but apparently, they did not expect it to happen. Today things haven’t changed much. Each day thousands of people are warned of God’s inevitable judgment, yet most of them don’t really believe it will happen.

“And he answered, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.’”

-Luke 10:27

Enchanted; Inktober Series

(Enchanted: filled with delight.) “Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.” -1 Corinthians 15:51-52 “For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.”

-1 Corinthians 13:12

Frail; Inktober Series

"for 'All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord remains forever.' And this word is the good news that was preached to you."

-1 Peter 1:24-25

Swing; Inktober Series

"How do you like to go up in a swing,

Up in the air so blue?

Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing

Ever a child can do!

Up in the air and over the wall,

Till I can see so wide,

Rivers and trees and cattle and all

Over the countryside—

Till I look down on the garden green,

Down on the roof so brown–

Up in the air I go flying again,

Up in the air and down!"

-Robert Louis Stevenson

"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."

-Romans 12:2

Snow; Inktober Series

"My mother’s got me bundled up

in tons of winter clothes;

you could not recognize me

if I did not have a nose.

I’d wear much less, but she’d get mad

if I dared disobey her,

so I stay wrapped from head to toe

in layer after layer.

I am wearing extra sweaters,

I am wearing extra socks;

my galoshes are so heavy

that my ankles seem like rocks.

I am wearing scarves and earmuffs,

I am wearing itchy pants;

my legs feel like they’re swarming

with a million tiny ants.

My mittens are enormous

and my coat weighs more than me;

my woolen hat and ski mask

make it difficult to see.

It’s hard to move, and when I try

I waddle, then I flop;

I’m the living, breathing model

of a walking clothing shop."

–Jack Prelutsky

Dragon; Inktober Series

"And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him."

-Revelation 12:9

Satan uses counterfeits.

Satan uses doubts.

Satan uses tolerance. (Public acceptance convinces us that maybe certain actions are not so bad after all.)

Satan uses temptation. (Most sin begins with what we see, contemplate, and think about.)

Satan uses deception. (He is the father of lies. -John 8:44.)

Satan questions God’s Word, denies God’s Word, and promotes substitutions for God’s Word. He will say to us, “You do not deserve to be saved. Look at that sin you just committed. You call yourself a Christian? Don’t even think of going to church. That would be the ultimate hypocrisy. Don’t you dare pray. God will not listen to you. Forget about reading the Bible, because God will not speak to you through it anyway, after what you have done.” When we sin, that is all the more reason to pray and ask God for forgiveness. When we sin, that is all the more reason to go to church and get help and support from our Christian friends. When we sin, it is vital that we read the word of God and act decisively on it.

"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

-James 4:7

Ash; Inktober Series

In 1945, a huge pile of ash and rubble lay where the Dresden Frauenkirche once was. Using geocomputer programs, 3,539 pieces of the salvaged sandstone were rotated in three dimensions until the original position of each piece was relocated to the millimeter. These were then incorporated in reconstruction of the outer facade between 1996 and 2005.

Wild; Inktober Series

Creation is no empty show. Nothing is here merely for the sake of admiration. Creation attunes hearts to the praises of our Creator. Creation manifests God's glory. Psalm 104:24 "O Lord, how manifold are your works! In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures."
